Over the course of a few months, Emmanuel and I engaged in a double long-distance conversation - one in video, the other in text - between Paris and Cape Town.
Taking the surrealist Exquisite Corpse game as a starting point, we took turns in producing a series of short video clips of their daily surroundings using their mobile phones. For each exchange we would send the last second of our shot to the other, thus revealing only a small fragment of the recorded clips.
In parallel, we agreed to keep a daily dream journal for the duration of the conversation, posting only fragments of their recorded dreams on a shared blog.
Once the conversation ended, we shared the full content of their videos and dreams. We then independently edited our own narrative from the gathered material, which we then collaged into a two-channel video.
